Lampworking

Lampworking is a generic term used to describe the manipulation of glass in a flame. Initiall, the flame was provided by a liquid fueled lamp, perhaps enhanced with a blowpipe to increase the temperature. Today, most lampworking is done with a torch that burns a propane and oxygen mixture. This provides a level of control that was nearly impossible to achieve with the original lamp and blowpipe setup.

We just love beads, in all shapes, forms and materials. We make glass beads, along with other glass items (see our Fused Glass pages for details), and love the diversity that can be achieved in working with glass.

Contrasted with Woodworking, which is essentially a subtractive process, working with glass is usually an additive process. You begin with an idea and add glass to get what you wish to create. Of course, dealing with hot glass can be a difficult process to learn, particularly for individuals that are used to touching their work! P>On this page, you will find information about lampworking, and links to some gallery pages that showcase our work.

This page is under construction, please check back in a few days to see if we have been able to update it!
